Freeing the Third Eye --Mt. Hooker (elevation 12,504 feet) has a nearly 1,800 foot north-facing wall that was first climbed by Robbins, McCracken and Raymond in 1964. Hooker was reportedly the first wilderness wall climbed using the skills and tactics learned during the early Yosemite big-wall climbing era.

Fun on little big rocks

Alpine climbing is overrated anyway

Rumbling Bald Bouldering
The other day my friend Josh mentioned to me that our little local bouldering area was ranked the third most trendy bouldering area in the world based on registered ascents by the website 8a.nu....in the world!?!?

I remember a few years ago being excited to see other cars in the lot. Yesterday the lot was full by 10am. This was only my second day here this season as I have been busy helping to rear our newborn son Miles, and tying in on the Ugly Project. It must be even more dramatic for real locals to witness the change. It's great to see so many people out enjoying these beautiful boulders and the warm light filled forest. The amount of boulderers I saw yesterday reminded me of Hueco Tanks. Let's take good care of this spot.

Well, if my little local area is such a trendy place, I better get with the times. What could be more trendy than a bouldering video? Here I am climbing a couple classics and what I believe to be a new problem -- well it is certainly new and I think I did it first...regardless, it is a great addition. In my mind this was one of the last big independent projects to be done at a fairly accessible difficulty. There are, however, plenty of big futuristic lines waiting for some heavy hitting boulder to pass through.
